I wanted to build a FPV wing style plane similar to a Mini Drak and have the crash resilience of a quadcopter! I chose the FT Goblin and fluted polypropylene board as this mixture fitted my requirements.

I have been building and flying FPV quadcopters for a few years now and like many I progressed into RC planes, starting with Flite Test foam board builds. I have provided the plans to print and a resources folder along with individual component photos and weights. I used DSM to improve and refine my design, I then rebuilt the fuselage and posted YouTube videos of the build process. I then used “Design Spark Mechanical” free CAD software and plotted the build. I did some test flights and after many crashes! I worked out the C G for my plane. I then designed and built a fuselage out of 3mm Correx. Depending on what your sheets are made of, use polypropylene glue for polypropylene and use CA glue for PVC (hot glue should work on both).

I modified the spars and assembled the wing similar to the Flite Test build video. I started with the Flite Test Goblin plans for the wing, I printed them out and used “Spray & Stick” temporary glue to mount to a piece of 3mm Correx sheet. It's fast and agile, has a shallow glide angle with no tip stall. With only a slight increase in weight. The disadvantages are that it requires more planning,is difficult to cut compared to foam board, polypropyleneĬan be difficult to glue and PVC can crack with impacts. The advantages of fluted plastic are increased strength and durability compared to foam board, It’s put together using polypropylene glue/CA glue apart from fuselage to wing, nose cover, vertical stabilizers and engine mount The fuselage is my own design and more streamlined than the Goblin, the wing is madeįrom one piece and modified from the original.
